Brad Fredrickson Youth Wrestling Fund

About The Program

Brad Fredrickson began wrestling when he was in 5th grade. He fell in love with the sport, and it became a huge part of his life. He continued wrestling in high school, becoming a state champion in 1977. After high school, he continued wrestling college and on national teams. His greatest contribution to the sport came through coaching. He coached wrestling for 18 years, leading many other athletes to develop a passion for wrestling.

Sadly, Brad passed away after an 11 year battle with amyloidosis on September 29th, 2021. In an effort to honor his memory and love for the sport, his family has started the Brad Fredrickson Youth Wrestling Fund. The purpose of this fund is to offer the chance for as many young athletes to wrestle as possible. We would like to provide financial support for wrestlers to help minimize any financial hurdles interfering with their participation in their local programs.

As one of Brad's heroes, Dan Gable, has said, "They say wrestling isn't for everybody, but I say it should be." Our goal is to provide the funds so that it can be for everybody.

We are able to provide funds for Kansas wrestlers for necessary equipment and fees, such as:

  • USA wrestling cards to participate in youth programs and tournaments

  • Tournament entry fees

  • Wrestling shoes, headgear, and any other equipment necessary for participation
